Water Water Water
The children complain of headaches. They really need to stay hydrated at all times especially in this HOT weather. Please be sure that your children have plenty to drink during the day. The children come to my office looking for juice and bottles of water. I do not keep a large supply in the health office.
Nut Allergy Awareness
We have children attending our school that have severe allergies to peanuts or other nuts. Strict avoidance is the ONLY way to prevent an allergic reaction. A reaction is triggered not only by eating nuts, but also by touching, smelling, or coming in contact with any item containing nuts or nut traces (such as chocolate). Peanut oil is used in a lot of different types of foods. It is important when sending class snacks to school to read labels. A reaction can be fatal within minutes. In the classroom setting, cross-contamination is the greatest risk from this type of allergy. Cross-contamination occurs when a few crumbs from one child's snack are dropped and then picked up by an allergic child.
- PLEASE encourage your children not to share food with other students.
- If you are bringing food to the classroom, PLEASE try to provide nut free items that can be enjoyed by everyone.
- With your co-operation we can minimize the risk of an allergic reaction at school.
- If your Child has any type of allergy to Food, Bees, Insects, etc. Please be sure to let me know on our Health Questionnaire.
- If they require medication be sure to come and get a release to take to your Dr.'s office.
- All medication must be kept in the Health Office.
ABSOLUTELY NO CHILD MAY HAVE MEDICATION OF ANY KIND WITH THEM AT SCHOOL. THIS INCLUDES ALL OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATION.
