Open House

Thank you for everyone who attended on Friday night.  While looking through a lot of work done by your children, it gave me a time to have some reflection and thought.  Your children are very talented in so many different ways, and that clearly showed in the various types of projects the class has worked on throughout the year.  The following link is the slideshow that was playing on the interactive board.

Pacifc Asia Museum

On Wednesday, March 21, the 6th graders left St. Rita on a field trip to the Pacific Asia Museum.  On this trip, we saw vaious pieces of art from China, India, Indonesia, and Japan.  We learned more about Buddhism and Hinduism.  On this trip, they also had their own art experience in learning how to paint Japanese calligraphy.  For a quick glimpse of the trip, check out the following link:

Christian Service Hours

As Catholics, part of our faith urges us to live a faithful life.  One of the ways that we should express our faith is through Christian Service.  Christian Service allows us to spread our faith to others and to live the way that Jesus taught us.  Each trimester, 6th graders will be required to finish 6 hours of Christian Service.  The following is a list of activities that can be performed to receive credit.

Policies and Guidelines

Homework

Homework is a necessary component for students to self-assess their learning. Students should have a regular time and space to do their homework. Homework is not a major part of the overall grade, but it can impact a student‘s grade if it is not completed regularly. Homework is worth 5% of the overall grade and all grades are done on a point system. Homework is worth 5 points. Late or incomplete homework will be deducted 1 point for every day that it is late. If the work is in the student's desk and not turned in the next day, it is still considered late.

If a student is absent, all missed work must be completed in a timely manner. Depending on the duration of the absence will determine when makeup work will be due. All daily and weekly assignments are written on the chalkboard on the south-side of the classroom. Upcoming quizzes and tests will also be written on the chalkboard with the homework assignments. Each student is responsible for correctly writing the homework and dates for tests in their school planners. Homework will NOT be sent to the office. Please pick up the needed books from the classroom between 3:00 and 3:30.
