Welcome Back!

E-mail Print PDF

Welcome back to another great school year!  It is often said that the classroom is a place where miracles happen.  Indeed, it is a place where students with different personalities and different learning styles from different backgrounds and cultures come together. In truth, the classroom is a place filled with young people who are small miracles developing into bigger miracles, who will turn around to create even bigger miracles.

E-mail Print PDF

Required Dress days will be every Tuesday (Mass days), and special school events or field trips such as the Cathedral, the Disney concert hall, the Reagan library, the Getty museum etc. The dress uniform may be worn daily if desired.

Sweatshirts and Polo Shirts are not worn on Dress Days. A sweater or vest instead of the sweatshirt and a blouse or oxford shirt instead of the polo. Basically you are purchasing a dress shirt/blouse, a sweater and possibly a tie in addition to the current uniform.

Blouses and Dress shirts do not need a school logo and are available at most stores. Oxford shirts may be short or long sleeved.

Teens Raise Funds for Taste of Sierra Madre Beneficiaries with Dance at St. Rita’s

E-mail Print PDF

Taste of Sierra MadreRecent St. Rita graduates, William Hurtado and Jennifer Brady, helped organize a teen dance held at St. Rita's in Sierra Madre on July 17. Through the efforts of Hurtado, Brady, Stuart Love and Julianne Robi, graduates of St. Rita and Assumption schools this June, "Dance for a Cause" was a great success. 131 youth, aged 12-15, enjoyed a great evening of music, with some of the refreshments donated by Jamba Juice. They raised $707 for the two causes identified this year as beneficiaries of A Taste of Sierra Madre, to be held September 11. Half the funds raised will fund cleft palate surgeries performed through the volunteer Rotoplast Foundation. With each surgery cost at $500, Hurtado commented in their report to the organizing committee that their fundraising funded 70% of a child's needed surgery. The other half of the funds will benefit the Youth Activity Center in Sierra Madre, funding additional arts programs for children in the surrounding area. For more information about A Taste of Sierra Madre, please visit the event website, www.ATasteofSierraMadre.com or call event chair, Tom Brady at 626-355-3471.
